Since the end of 2023, Linhuei Chen has been developing a sci-fi narrative set within the coastal dunes of the Netherlands, imagining a future where climate change forces humanity to choose between staying on Earth or migrating to another planet. Through speculative fiction and imagination, she explores how culture and memory shape human life under extreme circumstances. This conceptual journey led to Memory Diaspora: A Sci-Fi Story of Migration.

Chen creates her own artistic methodology to tell this sci-fi story: combining research, paintings, participatory board games, texts, hypotheses, and imagination. In this exhibition, she firstly responds to the North Sea flood of 1953 in the Netherlands—a disaster that profoundly shaped the country's hydraulic engineering and landscapes, including the preservation of coastal dunes. This historical catastrophe inspired her choice of dunes as the starting point for her speculative narrative.

True to her unique artistic practice, the audience will experience serious reflections on natural disaster and climate change through a playful, interactive exhibition that balances gravity with engagement.
